We are a fully inclusive Primary Academy for children aged 3 – 11, located just outside of the town of Middlesbrough. With our own extensive grounds, and excellent facilities, we provide plenty of space for children to learn; reach their potential and ultimately shine!

We have excellent outdoor grounds and facilities for our children that include spacious grass areas, two playgrounds, a games court, a big Early Years outdoor area, a wooded ‘wild’ area, allotment, orchard and outdoor classrooms. We also have many fantastic outdoor spaces for learning both locally and in the wider community including the ‘West Beck’, ‘Stewarts Park’ and ‘Fairy Dell. All within walking distance of the school! As part of our curriculum we are committed to ensuring that all children have meaningful, frequent, continuous and progressive access to Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) activities.

At Easterside all children receive an exciting, creative and innovative curriculum, delivered by committed and inspirational teachers. We have a vastly experienced and generous number of Teaching Assistants who support the children’s learning whatever their needs.

The school does its utmost to ensure the well being of all children. There are four non teaching members of staff dedicated to this role that supported by other staff, form our ‘Care Team’. The Team ensures there is constructive play with a range of activities on the yards; that issues between pupils are resolved; that reluctant learners are supported; that the behaviour policy is implemented effectively and that there is an active, stimulating study support programme before and after school. A key aspect of their role is also working with parents and families.

At Easterside we work hard to engage parents in their child’s learning through opportunities such as ‘Stay and Play’, ‘Consultation Time’ and ‘Open Mornings’. Our school holds the Leading in Parental Partnership Award (LPPA).

The site is all on one level in the Early Years and Key Stage 1 and on two levels at Key Stage 2. Classrooms are inviting and provide a stimulating and rich environment for teaching and learning. The library is well resourced and positioned centrally in the school. All classrooms have interactive whiteboards and visualisers, enabling teachers to use the latest technology. Computing is embedded within our classrooms - computers, laptops and iPads. We have a Curriculum Kitchen that is regularly used for cooking across the school and the Cookery Club with our school Cook.

As a school we have a rich PE and Sports curriculum which delivers a broad range of physical activities for all year groups. As well as teaching the more traditional sports we also ensure our children are given the opportunity to try something different e.g. Wheelchair Basketball, Golf, Boxercise and ‘Frisbee’. We are fully involved in local competitions and celebrate all successes with pupils and parents! We are extremely proud of our recently achieved ‘School Games Gold Award’.

The Principal welcomes visitors to the school and is always happy to discuss how we can meet the needs of children and families. Please contact the school office for an appointment.
