High Needs Base
At Easterside Academy, there is a sixteen placed High Needs Base, which is a specialised educational provision within the mainstream school for reception to year two children. The High Needs Base is funded by the local authority and provides a nurturing environment where children can access a tailored educational experience. Parents and carers wishing to apply for a place in the base for their child must do so through the local authority.
Within our High Needs Base, we take a flexible and holistic approach to education. Our broad and balanced curriculum is specifically adapted to meet the individual needs of each child, enabling them to reach their full potential.
We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to succeed, and our High Needs Base provides the support and resources needed to ensure that each child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Our High-Needs Base is designed to support children with a wide range of additional needs, including but not limited to:
• Learning difficulties or disabilities
• Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC)
• Speech, language, or communication challenges
Each child is assessed individually, ensuring that the support provided is specific to their needs, and our approach is continually adjusted as they grow and develop.
We provide a safe, calm, and nurturing environment with:
- Small group or 1:1 teaching
- Personalised curriculum
- Emotional and behavioural support
- Access to therapies (e.g. speech and language)
- Close collaboration with families and external professionals
- A structured daily routine that supports independence and life skills
Our trained staff work closely with each child to build confidence, encourage progress, and celebrate every success, no matter how big or small.
