At Easterside Academy, learning is developed beyond the classroom to enrich learners. Our enrichment programme is underpinned by character education and the development of the whole child.

Easterside Academy’s school values are embedded in our unique programme of enrichment opportunities, which offer pupils a wealth of diverse and engaging activities at every stage of their education. The academy’s enrichment programme extends pupils' knowledge and expands skills as well as giving them the opportunity to flourish as individuals. From academic activities, carrying out roles in school to sport and arts clubs, our enrichment activities promote problem solving, teamwork and a commitment to learning and self-improvement.

At Easterside Academy we recognise the importance of pathways and sign posting pupils with a particular talent or interest to further enhance their skills outside of school, for example through involvement in local sports clubs, theatre groups  and so on.

Easterside Academy is working in partnership with children’s university. The Children’s University in Middlesbrough, offers a range of high quality learning opportunities and activities outside school hours, at weekends and in the holidays.

It’s part of a national initiative run by social enterprise Iron Guidance, in partnership with Middlesbrough Council and Teesside University, with a firm focus on rewarding participation and encouraging engagement with learning. Participating children mark their achievements by collecting stamps in a passport, working towards certificates and their very own graduation ceremony. The passports can be used at before and after school clubs, visitor and leisure attractions and a range of other clubs and activities – and not just in Middlesbrough, but around the county, collecting hours of learning wherever they see the Children’s University logo. If your child is interested in having a passport please speak to the school’s main office.

We believe that the school fulfils an important role in enhancing the life chances of its pupils. We aim for every child to attend at least one club per year. A member of staff coordinates the Study Support Programme and seeks to ensure that opportunities are available for younger and older pupils. New providers are sought in order to maintain a broad range of stimulating activities and opportunities for pupils. We adhere to strict safeguarding checks on all our providers.

At Easterside Academy a wide range of activities are available, varying according to the season.

These activities usually take place before or after school. Sometimes activities are delivered by our own staff, and sometimes they are delivered by external providers.

We are very grateful for he help of staff, parents/carers and friends of the school in supporting these activities.
