Well the first week back is coming to an end! It has been really lovely to see everyone return, all smart in their new uniforms and ready to learn. When I’ve had a walk around the classrooms this week I’ve been really impressed with how hard the children are already working and everyone has settled back into school life smoothly. The Year 6’s have new writing pens and are already trying hard to impress Mrs Anderson and Mrs Stubbs with their beautiful handwriting; and Year 1 and 2 children have all been a superhero for the day!
I would also like to welcome our new starters to Easterside Academy! As well as our new reception children in the Early Years, I have also inducted seven new children and families into the school this week, and it’s been a pleasure to meet you all. Everyone here wishes you and your family every success at Easterside Academy!
Over the summer break we had a lot of small building projects going on, including our new Key Stage 1 outdoor area which we will slowly be developing, and a small extension near the Key Stage 2 entrance which has provided us with another great teaching space. Thank you to all the parents and carers for their patience at Key Stage 1 at the start and end of the day whilst we all get used to the new routines.
We have lots of exciting things planned for the term and the year, as always! With lots of opportunities for parents / carers to come into school and see what we’re getting up to. All dates are available now on the academy’s APP and on this website.
Early Years (Nursery and Reception) parents and family are invited to stay on Thursday’s to join in themed activities with their child in the setting.
For morning nursery and reception this is at 8.45am and for afternoon nursery this is at 12. The sessions last for approx 30 – 45 mins. Everyone welcome!
Reception children will take part in Yoga Bugs every Thursday. Please ensure they have their PE kit with them on these days and earrings are taken out if they have them.
Children in Year 1 and 2 will learn about the French culture today.
Children in Year 3 and 4 will learn about the Norwegian Culture.
Children in Year 5 and 6 will learn about the Mexican Culture.
