School is Out!

As another year at Easterside Academy draws to an end, I look back at all the things we’ve achieved as a school and couldn’t be prouder to be part of such a great team, with wonderful staff, children, and parents.

Together we have had another successful and very busy year! Some of the main events and occasions that have stood out for me were:

  • Ofsted arriving on our doorstep in February! My main focus was to get them to turn their one day inspection looking at a ‘good’ school, into a two day; giving us the opportunity to demonstrate that there are many areas of our school that we feel are much better than good. I did, and they agreed! And graded our school ‘Outstanding’ for three of the five Ofsted areas – Early Years Provision; Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare and Leadership and Management.
  • The family Holi Colour Run – I think this is a memory that will stick with me forever. There was such a great turn out from families, with many ready to join in the fun with us. It was a really fun and enjoyable afternoon and so good to see children, families and staff enjoying themselves together. I can let you know now that there is already planning for another colour run next year too – how could we not!
  • To be honest I’ve loved all the family events when parents and families have been able to get themselves into school and join in with the children! This has included the ‘Stay and Play’ sessions, ‘Open Mornings’, ‘Celebration Events’, the ‘Art Gallery’ … It’s during these times that you can really feel the community spirit that Easterside truly has. Next year we’ll continue to invite you in as much as we can!
  • And to end the year we have had some fantastic results throughout the school that highlight the hard work put in by staff and pupils – in the EYFS; Phonics Screening Test; End of KS1 assessment and End of KS2 tests!

I really couldn’t be any prouder of our school and our children and everything they keep achieving and I’m already looking forward to seeing how we can make it even better next year! Any ideas welcomed  😀 

Finally, I would like to wish you all a lovely Summer Break 😎 and look forward to seeing you back at school on Tuesday 5th September.

Start Back – 2nd half of the Spring Term

Early Years Stay and Play @ Easterside Academy
Feb 22 all-day

Early Years (Nursery and Reception) parents and family are invited to stay on Thursday’s to join in themed activities with their child in the setting.

For morning nursery and reception this is at 8.45am and for afternoon nursery this is at 12. The sessions last for approx 30 – 45 mins. Everyone welcome!

Yoga Bugs @ Easterside Academy
Feb 22 all-day

Reception children will take part in Yoga Bugs every Thursday. Please ensure they have their PE kit with them on these days and earrings are taken out if they have them.

KS1 Cultural Day – France @ Easterside Academy
Feb 23 all-day

Children in Year 1 and 2 will learn about the French culture today.

Year 3 and 4 Culture Day
Feb 23 all-day

Children in Year 3 and 4 will learn about the Norwegian Culture.

Year 5 and 6 Cultural day – Mexico
Feb 23 all-day

Children in Year 5 and 6 will learn about the Mexican Culture.
